Chasing the Center is a portal, a constellation of thoughts, research, imageries and found connections on how the weather is a crucial part of our history, culture and society. Tumala’s residency at the Manila Observatory happened on November 2021, January to February 2022. Chasing the Center is Tumala’s long-term project on weather and its surrounding points of interest.

Sunspots recording are one of the important work of scientists in the past. It is to believe that sunspots greatly affect our climate on Earth. These daily photographs I found in a 35mm film is testament to the enduring work of science, akin to obsession and exact truth.
