Running time: 49:55 mins
2025
It was an astronomical journey with Mario to build this work that is rooted in the years of working together in several of my artistic projects, “Tropical Climate Forensics” (2021-ongoing) commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design-Manila and “Living in a time without time” (2024). In 2020, we made our first video working remotely during the pandemic lockdown, with the title “28-10-19” where I rendered a morphing obsidian rock, which is later included in the performance. Then we made the sound design for the web-based video game project, “Tropical Climate Forensics” with the idea of ‘science music’ in mind. We explored sound that would fit both RPG game soundtrack and a sci-fi TV show. He further developed the soundtrack in “living in a time without time” where we explored a more introspective sensing of a changing world. I asked Mario to listen to Pharaoh Sanders, whom of which I was leaning to at the time. In that work I was thinking about a soundscape on the dance, desire and decay of living today. Mario’s sound work expanded my work in shaping my ecological ideology — to build a world tuning with our own nature.
