A light can kill, attracting insects to its death, a monotonous sharp sound signals its violence, burning its existence. That violent sound is shaped into a techno beat, monotonous, like in a club - adjacent to humans feeling alive, lit, dancing in a trance. Is sonic violence what makes us feel alive? In this meditation of violence, light and sound, Tumala structures the mundane as his intersecting ground to techno music and natural ecology. The killing is essential for us to be comfortable, but the process of violence to achieve comfort negates ecological practice. Are we violating natural ecosystems for us to be alive? Or is it natural to kill, to be violent?
